Applauzi is a costume and performance design studio for artists, theatre makers and creative production teams working on US projects.
A costume needs to say something. It also needs to work. Our starting point is the space between those two things.
An approach, not a house style.

We begin with questions: Who is wearing it? What happens on stage? What needs to be visible from the back row? The answers shape the silhouette, materials and production plan.
We work through ideas collaboratively. Scope, feasibility, fitting arrangements and timing are discussed before a commission is accepted.

Agree the direction.
We discuss what is possible and the creative development needed. Any proposed deliverables, design rounds and material choices are outlined for your review.
Resolve the real details.
Measurements, movement, fitting arrangements, approvals and delivery are planned around the commission. Costs and timelines are confirmed in writing.
Bring the look together.
Work proceeds against the agreed scope, with project correspondence and approvals kept together. Care and handling requirements are discussed for the finished pieces.

Do I need a complete design brief?+
No. Share what you know about the character, occasion and timing. We can discuss the open questions before defining a project.
Can I request a single costume?+
Yes. Enquiries can be for an individual look or a group of looks. Feasibility and availability depend on the brief and schedule.
How are pricing and lead times agreed?+
They depend on complexity, materials, quantities, fitting requirements and delivery. A written proposal confirms these details; the website does not take payments or guarantee availability.
Do you offer rentals?+
This site is focused on custom project enquiries. The design studies are not a rental inventory or products available for immediate purchase.
What happens after I send a brief?+
The team reviews your request and replies by email about the project. The form does not sign you up for a newsletter or promotional campaigns.
